Conference Theme
The Conference will gather government officials responsible for drawing up policies on libraries as well as non-governmental experts dealing with issues of public librarianship. The main objective of the Conference is to initiate a dialogue between governments, competent bodies and libraries, and all those whose activities focus on the new role of libraries for citizens of the 21st century. Today's European societies are characterized by two powerful, seemingly unconnected tendencies. On the one hand we have cultural and social changes caused by migration and expansion of multicultural societies and on the other digitalization and development of information, namely, societies of knowledge. |
